COVID-19 has devastated the tourism industry, and with reserves struggling to fund anti-poaching, Rhino Revolution began a fundraising campaign to raise money for rhino de-horning.
The private nature reserves surrounding the Kruger National Park, right on the doorstep of the RR orphanage, were the most at risk and therefore approached with our assistance.
De-horning is a drastic measure; removing the rhino’s iconic long horn, and although it will not completely remove the risk of poaching, it has been proven to significantly reduce the reward vs risk factor.
Rhino Revolution, along with fantastic veterinarians, conservationists, pilots, rangers and supporters have successfully de-horned (and hopefully saved the lives of) over 70 rhino during 2020 - a massive feat considering the economic collapse.
Once again, huge thanks to every single person involved.
