After the tragic loss of our beloved Anna Mussi, a truly inspiring young lady who dedicated herself to Rhino Revolution and the rescue and protection of animals in need, we are determined to honor her memory and continue her legacy. In Anna’s memory we created the "Anna's Emergency Wildlife Rescue Fund".

Due to the overwhelming support from Anna's dedicated followers on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and through direct donations, we have successfully raised just over R200,000. These generous contributions will be utilized to provide vital emergency veterinary procedures, such as snaring injuries and other urgent medical needs.

The fund will also cover the expenses associated with veterinary services and transportation, be it through helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft, ensuring that we can swiftly respond to critical situations wherever they may arise.

Through Anna's Emergency Wildlife Rescue Fund, we aspire to make a lasting impact in the world of animal conservation, honoring Anna's passion and dedication to the well-being of all creatures. Together, we will carry forward her vision and create a brighter future for the animals she held so dear to her heart.

Anna’s Emergency Fund Cases:

Helping a wounded rhino

17/07/2023

Upon receiving a distress call from the reserve owner and the responsible veterinarian, Dr. Boshoff, conducted a reaction mission on Monday morning, 17th July, involving a helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft to search for possible poaching victims, and to render veterinary care to rhinos wounded by this poaching syndicate. During the operation, we discovered multiple rhino carcasses from recent poaching incidents and attended to a rhino cow with a gunshot wound to the front leg. The aerial survey also allowed us to observe that approximately 65% of the rhinos' body condition is currently below advised norms due to inadequate food availability.

Emily, the Pangolin

01/06/2023

Emily is the pangolin that was airlifted from Kimberly. Upon her arrival, she exhibited melted scales and a few broken ribs. She is currently receiving excellent care, but her journey towards recovery will be lengthy and potentially expensive. To assist with the costs, we have allocated a portion of the donations made to Anna's Emergency Fund, specifically intended for pangolins, towards Emily's treatment.

A pangolin, which had been seized from poachers, required specialized veterinary care but was stranded in Kimberly. Thanks to the contribution in Anna's Emergency Fund, the pangolin was successfully transported by aircraft to Hoedspruit, where it received the necessary specialized treatment from Dr. D. English at Provet Veterinary Hospital.

Funding a orphaned calf, Mimi

03/05/2023

This incident has deeply touched us. Mimi's mother, a rhino who was hand-reared and released into the wild, had a little girl of her own. Unfortunately, she was poached on a reserve in the Eastern Cape, leaving Mimi all alone. Anna's Emergency Fund will provide assistance to Mimi by funding a portion of her upbringing.

wire on a rhino

24/12/2022

On the 23rd of December, our very own Chipoko got her hind leg tangled in a wire. Thanks to the support provided by Anna's Emergency Fund, we were able to get a veterinarian. Within a day, the vet successfully removed the snare with minimal damage to her leg

Escaped rhino bull

23/11/2022

A white rhino bull escaped from a reserve and was running loose in a mine. Anna's Emergency Fund offered financial support for the veterinary team, as well as a helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft, to immobilize and relocate the rhinoceros back to the reserve where it is now safe and secure.
